This month’s program is the annual Christmas Party with the Woodworkers. Meat, gravy, mashed potatoes, dressing and table service will be furnished by the clubs. Brian and Tami are the culinary artisans. Yum Yum!!! This event will be at the Southminister Presbyterian Church, 6500 W. Overland. Starts at 6:30 PM. Please park in the rear and meet downstairs. A-M brings deserts and N-Z brings side dishes. This is for your most important person too (like your spouse). Gift Exchange. Good items you have made. NO White Elephants!!!

This month’s program is the annual picnic at Brian and Tami”s home.  The club will furnish the meat, drink and table service.  The remainder will be as follows:  A-L bring deserts and  M-Z bring salads or side dishes.  The Meeting starts at 1:00 with the meal and then will go from the log to the lathe.  There will be chain saws there and safety will be discussed in their use.  Green woodturning is a hoot if you have never done that.

Ray Phillips from Oregon will be there to sell burls so you might want to bring some cash

FIRST TUESDAY: Sharpening.  So bring that really dull favorite tool  of yours and get an edge on it.   Nothing turns like a sharp tool.

Special session!! Before the regular club meeting, there will be small group instruction on some aspect of turning. All of you are welcome and you might learn something. The special session starts at 6:00 and runs to 7:00.

Ron Lee has offered the club a table in his “Art in the Field” event May 31st^th and June 1st. This table will be free to club members. All other booths will be 10’ X 10’ and cost $40.00. This event will be highly advertised and should have lots of buyer traffic. A map will be on the web site or call Ron Lee @ 573-0217. Ron needs to know who is coming! Please call and let him know. So far only a couple of guys have expressed interest.

The Christmas party was a great success. There were great gifts given and exchanged. All had plenty to eat. It was also well attended.

Pens for the troops was a great deal for us. Two other stores in the US of A beat ;out the Boise Woodcraft Store. Plan on participating again next year.

November’s demo didn’t go just like I had planned. 2 of you came up afterwards and gave me some timely advice. One was the direction I was driving my drive center was causing the wood to split and the other was the attack on Mary’s head after being offset. I made those two changes and made two Marys in about 20 minutes that were perfect. I really do try to listen. There was also a discussion on safety that I need to address later. I really try to be safe but I know I push the envelope to the edge.

We had no bowl exchange this time. Let’s keep this going. Some day I would like to make a bowl because I got one in the drawing. My winless streak continues!!

SIWA, Magic Valley Turners, Skyview High School, Nampa Jr. High and a Scout troop from the Magic Valley turned in 1033 Pens for The Troops. Nice going you guys and gals. That is AWESOME!!

Crusty Harmon won the most ugly turning from his past. It truly did deserve the award.
