Show Committee Survey

Thank you for serving on the Idaho Artistry in Wood Association (IAWA) Show Committee.  We need to make a number of critical decisions over the next few weeks.  To make sure your personal views and those of the group you represented are reflected in these decisions, we thought it might be helpful to have a written record of your thoughts about the following:

1. Was the 2009 show worth the effort?

1. Did the show meet your expectations?

1. Do you support the idea of a consortium approach to putting on an annual show?

1. Should the Committee work toward constituting the IAWA as a legal, non-profit entity with its own funds or should it continue as an informal association of the wood art groups in southwestern Idaho with one of the groups acting as the legal agent for the association?

1. There is a proposal to rotate the chairmanship of the committee among the five groups represented.  Would you and your group be willing to support that approach?

1. What kind of facility should we seek for next year’s show?  Do you have any ideas on a possible venue?

1. This year the show experienced a loss of about $1100 which was made up from the $200 donations from the Gourd Society and the Turners and a $700 drawdown of the $7000 endowment fund preserved from the years the Idaho Woodcarvers Show was in operation.  What changes or approaches would you recommend to make the show at least a break-even operation?  Note:  The actual loss was more on the order of $800 as we have a remaining inventory of ribbons and other materials that could be considered an investment in next year’s show.
