ARTISTRY IN WOOD

The Idaho Artistry In Wood Association is pleased to present the 2009,Artistry In Wood Show and sale at the Brown Gallery;1022 Main Street, Boise,Idaho,May 2nd and 3rd. Registration will occur between noon and 6:00 PM. on friday, May1, at the gallery. The goal of the show is to provide all those who work in wood the opportunity to demonstrate their work to the public in a gallery setting.the entrants may submit their pieces for the competition and if they choose , they may exercise the opportunity to sell their work with the understanding that there is a 20%, commission on each sale which goes to the sponsors of the show.

SKILL LEVELS

Woodturners are expected to choose the skill level that best represents their ability.

NOVICE- Anyone relativly new to woodturning, perhaps in their first year.

AMATEUR- Anyone who has enjoyed turning for some time as a hobby.

PROFESSIONAL- Anyone who has reached a high level of ability or who has turned for profit.

AWARDS

A first place ribbon will be awarded to the best entry in each class.

In the case of any other entry or entries in that category which closely rivals the winner, an honorable mention award or awards, may be given.

JUDGING

The woodturners will be judged by Gary Smith. Mr. Smith is a professional and is well known throughout the woodturning community for his years of teaching and woodturning inovations. He represents a blend of traditional and cutting edge techniques. We are honored to have Gary as our judge.

101- Open —– (Vases, Goblets, Etc.)

102-Closed—–( Lidded Boxes, Etc.)

103-Solid—–(Candlesticks,Etc.)

HOLLOW FORMS

200—–Any hollowed turning)

SEGMENTED FORMS

300—–Any segmented turning

BOWLS

400—–All bowls

PLATTERS

500 All platters

NATURAL EDGE

600—– All natural edge turnings.

CARVED

700—– Any style turning with carving applied.

ART PIECE

800—–Any piece which includes spiral, eccentric, multiple piece construction, or an ornamental nature.

PENS

900—–All pens (Wood only)
